Car Insurance Toyota (Car Insurance). My car air conditioer has a small hole, really small, in the tubing can I patch it someway? My car air conditioer has a small hole, really small, in the tubing can I patch it someway? It leaks out the fluid and I do not want to replace the tube. Can it be soldered to patch it? Or should the tubing be replaced because I realize a lot of pressure is on the Air Conditoner. Thanks Replace the tubing. I know that there's a special tape you can use but I'd suggest you call a mechanic or dealership to find out the exact kind. ignore the tape advice,,replace it,R134 is under a lot of pressure,,any repair that doesnt work just means replacing it and refilling it AGAIN Even if you could patch it, what are you going to do afterward. The system will have to be vacuum down and held to check for any more leaks, then the refrigerant and oil has to go into the system, and this has to be done by weight. Do you have the equipment to do this? You are right, the high pressure side has - well - High Pressure. If your patch fails, which is likely, you will have wasted your time and money. Too often I see people resort to quick fixes. They may get them out of a jam, but in the long run, it's cheaper to fix it right the first time. My neighbors van won't start without bypassing the starter circuit. He spent around 20 bucks on a hand trigger used by mechanics when they want to start the engine while being under the hood. He is always going under the van to fix the loose wires that result from his shortcut fix. Really, he probably has a bad relay, or maybe even just a burnt out fuse. But to him it was quicker to throw money at the problem without knowing what was wrong. Auto parts : Driving Light Bracket Acura 1995 . Driving Light Bracket Boot Alfa Romeo 1996 . I have a classic car I need to sell. it is appraised at 13G and the car is running with new re-built transmission, tuned up engine and brand new brakes all around. I would be happy if I get 10G for it but there are a lot of lowballers and tire kickers out there trying to get something for pratically nothing so I want to know what would be the lowest you would go if you were selling my car. Some snot nose kid (must have been no more then 18 years old) came by, took a look at it. Told me he loved it but only wanted to pay 2500 for it. He was trying to argue that the colour was wrong, the interior was not the colour he wanted and that he would have to get the rust fixed (only 1 spot the size of a thumbnail) and said he would have to pay big bucks to get it all right.... Toyota . How to Figure Differential Gear RatioDifferential gear ratio is the number of times the drive shaft turns each time a vehicle's tires make one rotation. Different ratios are ideal in different situations: lower ratios are better for off-road use, while higher ratios provide better fuel economy and are more desirable for highway driving. The easiest way to determine the ratio is to divide the number of teeth on the ring gear by the number of teeth on the pinion. However, the ratio can also be determined by spinning the tires and counting the rotations. The process varies depending on whether or not the vehicle has positraction. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Car jack Two 1-inch pieces of duct tapeVehicles without Positraction Step by Step : 1 Place the jack under the car near one of the drive wheels. Jack the car up until the tire is off the ground. 2 Place one piece of tape at the 12 o'clock position on the tire and one piece of tape on the drive shaft facing you. This will mark the starting positions. 3 Place the car in neutral, and then spin the tire 10 complete revolutions while counting the number of times the drive shaft spins. 4 Divide the number of revolutions of the drive shaft by five, or half the number of revolutions of the tire. For example, if the drive shaft spins 18 times over the 10 revolutions of the tire, the differential gear ratio would be 18/5 = 3.6. Vehicles with Positraction Step by Step : 1 Place the jack under the car near the drive wheels and jack up both drive wheels. 2 Place one piece of tape at the 12 o'clock position on one of the tires and one piece of tape on the drive shaft facing you. This will mark the starting positions. 3 Place the car in neutral, and then spin the tire 10 complete revolutions while counting the number of times the drive shaft spins. 4 Divide the number of revolutions of the drive shaft by the number of revolutions of the tire. For example, if the drive shaft spins 36 times over the 10 revolutions of the tire, the differential gear ratio would be 18/10 = 3.6. Tips & Warnings Check the vehicle's user manual to see whether it is rear-wheel or front-wheel drive. Use caution when working under a vehicle on a jack. Do not attempt to lift a vehicle while on an incline.
Toyota . How to Figure Out the Gear Ratio on an F-150The Ford F-150 was introduced in 1975. One of the best-selling vehicles of all time, there are more F-150 trucks on the road than any other brand. Over the years, the F-150 came with an assortment of rear ends and gear ratios depending on engine size and options. Knowing the gear ratio of your F-150 is important if you have to replace the ring and pinion gears due to breakage, or if you want to change gear ratios. Difficulty:Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Jack (optional) Jack stands (optional) Paper Pencil Step by Step : 1 Locate the "Vehicle Certification Plate" on the inside of the driver's door near the door latch. The axle code is printed under "Axle" or "Ax." You can use the chart provided in the first resource below to cross reference the axle code. You can verify the gear ratio using the next two steps. 2 Locate the axle tag on the rear axle. It is a small metal tag attached to one of the differential cover bolts. The differential cover is the metal cover on the back center of the rear axle. It is held on with a circular pattern of bolts. Older F-150s do not have a cover; they have a differential carrier. Either way, there is still a circular pattern of bolts. 3 Write down the number in the lower left-hand corner of the tag. It will look like "3.23" or "3.50." This is the gear ratio. If there is an "L" in the number, for instance "3L23," it is a limited slip differential. Tips & Warnings Limited-slip differentials provide power to both tires. If one tire starts to spin, power is transferred to the other one. Non-limited-slip, or "open" differentials, provide power to one tire only. If it starts to spin, the other tire will remain stationary. Lower (numerically higher) gears are better for pulling and acceleration. Higher (numerically lower) gears are better for highway driving. *-* Distance at front (l 1 (x '>art'"" Keeping ^our ^ar m ^00(' Condition, System by System * Turning radius is the relation of one front wheel to the other on turns. If you turn to the right, the right front tire needs to turn at a slightly greater angle than the left front tire. Your car's steering arms accommodate this feat. (See Figure 19-7.) If your tires "squeal" sharply on turns, one of your car's steering arms may be your problem. How do you know if your wheels need aligning? Look at your tires to see whether they show any of the tread-wear patterns that I discuss in "Checking your tires for wear," and pay attention to how your car steers and handles. Does it pull to one side? Does the steering feel loose and sloppy? Is your car hard to handle after a turn? If your tires show any unusual wear patterns and/or you answered yes to any of these questions, your car probably needs an alignment. 912

Just stand outside your vehicle, near the door on the driver's side. Stick your hand through the open window and move the steering wheel, with your eye on the left front tire. If you can move the steering wheel at all before the tire starts to move, then you need to have both your steering and alignment checked. There should be no "play" in the steering wheel before the signal is transmitted to the tires. As you drive your car, be alert to signs that it isn't handling as easily as before. If the vehicle seems to have a mind of its own and begins to resist you on turns (and pulling out of turns), take a good look at your tires for signs of wear caused by misalignment. Checking your tires for tiear You should check your tires for wear at least once a month and before and after long trips. To determine whether you need to (a) buy new tires, (b) have your wheels balanced, (c) have your wheels aligned, or (d) change your driving habits, simply read your tire treads for clues.
